“Letters to the plates”

On the 3th of December 2015   “Arvestagir” visited Cafesjian Center for the Arts, where an exhibition from series of ” Encounters with art” was being held.  The exhibition titled “Letters to the plate” was, in its turn, a part of the exhibition “Yerevan Collectors’ Choice 2: Ruben Angaladian Letters in plates”. Evening started in ” Sasuntsi Davit Garden Gallery ” where the visitors had  opportunity to see the collection once again.

The collection includes plates, illustrated by famous artists such as R. Elibekyan, A. Shiraz, E. Kharazyan, A. Garukyan, T. Petrosyan, S.Bekaryan, M. Khachatryan, G. Mikaelyan (Kiki), G. Khachatryan, S. Zumyan, A. Sevoyan, F. Yeghiazaryan, S. Gevorgyan and others. The evening continued in the hall for special events, where art historian Armen Yesayants presented a report ” The Perception of Circular Space: Yesterday and Today “, in which he presented the perception of circular space in different periods of art history, quoting Carl Jung and Rudolf Arnheim and also introduced the history of illustrated plates from the Archaic to the present days.

At the end of the lecture the writer, philosopher and collector Ruben Angaladyan, spoke on “The Collection and Collecting Issues among Armenians “. Ruben Angaladyan expressed concern about the small number of collectors in Armenia and highlighted the necessity of establishment of the Union of Armenian collectors.
